Tamil Nadu Drug & Chemist Association joins hands with REACH Pharmacy Initiative

Chennai, November 28, 2016: Ms. Sujatha P. from REACH met Tamil Nadu Drug & Chemist Association General Secretary Mr. K.K. Selvan to discuss the Pharmacy Initiative.

During the meeting, the Ms. Sujatha and Mr. Selvan held discussions on the ways for REACH and TNDCA to work together. Mr. Selvan has decided to support our ongoing initiative with pharmacies. We are pleased to announce that Mr. Selvan will be extending the following support to us:

  • Agreed to include information on REACH in their state-level newsletter free of cost
  • Has given us opportunity to participate in zone-level meetings of the AGM association
  • Granted permission for us to participate in the TNCDA Quarterly meeting and to give presentation on REACH initiative

Through pharmacy initiative, REACH tries to establish sustainable partnership for TB control with private pharmacies in Chennai and Thanjavur district, thereby increasing public awareness of TB and the RNTCP at the community level. The initiative encourages pharmacies to refer those with TB symptoms in order to promote timely diagnosis and treatment. Our primary objectives include facilitating private pharmacies to actively notify the number of TB patients receiving anti-TB drugs from them, and recognizing their role as key stakeholders in TB control.
